About Boomer Consulting, Inc.
It all begins and continues with a Vision!
A vision: in 1982 when Gary Boomer was a Partner at Varney and Associates. He began to see the possibilities that technology could bring to the accounting industry. His vision and quest for knowledge encompassed the leadership, relationships and creativity required to provide value to the accounting industry.
A vision: in 1985 Gary joined forces with Steve Blundell, Terry Hull, Larry Wolfe, John Thorla and Don Hunt to form MicroResources, Inc. This group of top professionals visualized the way technology would revolutionize accounting firms. As each of them continued to grow their own business, their shared expertise began to transform the industries within which they worked.
A vision: in 1992 Gary turned over his book of accounting business and began to consult full-time to professional service firms. Gary used his entrepreneurial skills to build a lucrative consulting business (Boomer Consulting) within the confines of the accounting firm.
A vision: in 1995 Gary heard a message loud and clear from industry expert Troy Waugh – who said that money was being “left on the table” unless a team was built to support the consulting business that Gary had built nationwide. Gary heard the word … and recruited his team.
A vision: in 1996 the team broke ties with the firm of Varney and Associates to become Boomer Consulting, Inc. With a team of six professionals, a new location and a quest for becoming the best in the industry, this new entrepreneurial team began consulting with clients internationally.
A vision: in early 1998 a new way of consulting was introduced to the industry in the form of Boomer-net. Clients were familiar with one-on-one consulting, but Boomer-net brought a unique workshop style of presentation to industry leaders and their firms. The workshops were designed to assist firms in making the decision about entering the consulting world. Along with the workshop came a new book, The Boomer Advantage: Successful Technology Consulting, which soon became the catalyst for the next “phase” in Boomer history.
A vision: in late 1999 several clients approached Boomer and asked for a “new” service that would take their one-on-one experience with Boomer to the next level. They recognized the need for ongoing consulting and Boomer had the right methods for delivery. Thus, the Boomer Technology Circles™ were born. This new form of consulting brought dynamic education, widespread networking and continuous accountability. Starting with just one circle and a group of 10 firms, there are now seven circles with over 120 firms.
A vision: in 2003 the idea for the Boomer Advantage Guides was born in order to capture the knowledge, tools and best practices of industry leaders. Each year the firm issues guides on the top dangers and opportunities facing the industry.
A vision: in 2005 the idea of Performance3™ was born and the beginning of a new concept in assisting firms in their quest to move from incremental improvement to transformation and ultimately exponential growth. Planning x People x Processes = the formula for Performance3™. Technology is the accelerator.
A vision: in 2006 more new strategies, tools and services are at our command. The Boomer Planning Process is moving to the Internet where firms and their clients can leverage the intellectual property created by BCI. Firm plans, individual 90 day game plans and accountability reviews are being incorporated into our new website powered by a global team of technology, content and process management experts. Boomer consulting is committed to providing increased value in a global economy. Boomer Consulting is also introducing The Performance3™ Management Program to assist firms in the development of their greatest resource – people. We continue to build our services based upon our tag line…Think, Plan and Grow.
