Last year I wrote about the coming retirement of the Baby Boomers generation and the pending staffing crisis in the accounting profession. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the Baby Boomers comprise 60% of the prime-workforce today. A year ago it appeared accounting might follow a shortage in IT talent around the year 2005 or 2006. Today it looks like the shortage will occur in the accounting industry first and has already started in selective parts of the country. This is particularly true with auditing and accounting skills.

Use Caution with Track Changes in Office 2003

The “Track Changes” feature in Office 2003 is a valuable tool for team collaboration on a particular document. It facilitates online review by allowing authors, editors, or reviewers of a document to easily make and view tracked changes and comments in a document. At the same time, it is a feature that requires a bit of caution when you are using it in order to save you and your firm from a potentially embarrassing situation.
