Boomer Bulletin

June 2006 Circle Update

Since the last edition of the Boomer Bulletin the first round of Circle meetings has continued in full swing.  Circle #8 met in early June and Circle #4 will be in session as this issue goes to press!  These two Circles represent some of our largest firms and their perspective on the current issues is always interesting.  Multi-office communication issues always seem to get prominent attention.

One feature of each meeting was to select the 2006 Circle Advisory Board members, and the first teleconference for that group will be held soon after the last Circle meeting.

The 2006 Metrics collection continues as the remaining firms continue to send in their reports.  Not surprisingly, the trends reported in last month’s column continue to hold true.  Circle members can see the full report of data collected on their Circle webpage on the Boomer Knowledge Network.

Planning is already underway for the second round of Circle meetings in August and September, and again this summer we will feature two joint meetings, using a “1-2-1” format.  Circle #1 will meet on Monday August 14 and Tuesday August 15.  They will be joined on Tuesday the 15th by Circle #2 for a day of joint meetings.  At the conclusion of that day Circle #1 will leave and Circle #2 will stay for a day of their own meeting on Wednesday the 16th.  Two weeks later Circles #5 and #7 will follow the same format, with Circle #7 meeting on Monday August 28 and Tuesday August 29.  Circle #5 will meet on Tuesday the 29th and Wednesday the 30th.  All other Circles will follow their normal single meeting schedule.

Several members of the Boomer Consulting, Inc. staff attended the AICPA Tech 2006 conference in Austin earlier this month.  One of the exciting things for us was to see the number of Circle members in attendance.  This overlap of a highly regarded AICPA conference and a high number of Circle members in attendance shows once again how leading firms benefit from the interaction with their peers.  From sessions to hallway conversations to after hours social events it was easy to find the Circle members:  Just find one and there would be others close by!

If your firm is not yet a member of this close knit group of great firms getting better together, you can take the first step towards joining them by calling Eric Hunt at 888-266-6375, or by email at erich@boomer.com.  Hope we see you at a Circle meeting soon!
