Thomson Reuters Announces Software As A Service (SaaS) Platform For CS Professional Suite®

Dexter, Mich., June 24, 2009—The Tax & Accounting business of Thomson Reuters is pleased to announce the availability of their CS Professional Suite products, as well as Microsoft® Office® and Exchange®, on a new SaaS (Software as a Service) platform. With the Thomson Reuters SaaS option, users pay monthly software leasing fees rather than up-front purchase fees and access their software over the web via ASP (Application Service Provider) technology.

“By eliminating the up-front software purchase costs and establishing consistent monthly leasing fees, the SaaS platform makes it easier for firms to establish a solid foundation for the future,” said Teresa Mackintosh, Senior Vice President, Core Market, for Thomson Reuters. “The SaaS option gives them immediate access to their software and the flexibility to grow their practices and leverage the benefits of a fully integrated suite of software from the beginning.”

In addition to the low up-front costs and predictable and consistent monthly fees, the SaaS option offers the benefits of a web hosted environment, including 24/7 anytime/anywhere user access to software, elimination of manual update installations, enhanced data security via the Thomson Reuters data centers, automatic backup of software and data, and ensured business continuance in the event of a disaster.

In the SaaS model, Thomson Reuters software products are grouped into four “profiles” associated with specific staff functions: Full Service, Tax, Accounting, and Admin. Firms may assign one profile to each staff member, and they will be charged monthly, based on the number of staff assigned to each profile. Product support is included for all products.

“We’re very pleased to offer this alternative option, enabling more firms to grow, add new staff economically, and specialize in a safe data center environment,” added Mackintosh. “We’ve been offering web-hosted versions of our software for ten years now – this new leasing option simply makes it easier for customers to get the benefits of the full suite of software from the start.”

Thomson Reuters launched the pilot for the SaaS leasing option in May of 2008, with 100+ firms participating. It is now available in full release. Firms seeking more information on the SaaS pricing model for the CS Professional Suite should contact a Thomson Reuters Account Representative at 800.968.8900 or email CS.Sales@ThomsonReuters.com.
