DEXTER, Mich., September 15, 2009—The Tax & Accounting business of Thomson Reuters announced today that its leading tax preparation software, UltraTax CS, was ranked first for the second year in a row with the IRS for federal 1040, 1065, and 1120 electronic filing acceptance.

Listed on the IRS’s 2008 Software Error Reject Code Report, UltraTax/1040 earned a 96.90 percent acceptance rate, the highest of any vendor in the industry, and UltraTax/1065 and UltraTax/1120 earned the highest acceptance rate for software vendors with more than 40,000 accepted returns, 98.2 percent and 98.9 percent respectively—again, the highest in the industry.

"Placing first once again is another indication of our dedication to excellence year after year,” stated Teresa Mackintosh, CPA.CITP, Senior Vice President, Professional Software & Services, Tax & Accounting, Thomson Reuters. "We work closely with our customers and the IRS to ensure UltraTax CS is the most comprehensive and powerful tax preparation software available to accountants. Testament to our commitment is that we have earned an average acceptance rate of 96 percent or higher for the past five years.”

“Not only did UltraTax CS take first once again for overall acceptance rate, but also placed first in many categories listed in the IRS’s software error report, which means the number of rejections were minimal,” stated Brian Vroom, CPA, Vice President of Development, Professional Software & Services, Tax & Accounting, Thomson Reuters. “This is a tremendous accomplishment considering how many federal 1040, 1065, and 1120 returns were processed using UltraTax CS.”

Thomson Reuters staff members were informed of the 2008 Software Error Reject Code Report results at the IRS Software Developers Conference, which took place in June.
