DEXTER, Mich.—Each year, the editors of the Accounting Today publication assemble their Top 100 Most Influential People list, drawing from a pool that spans all the accounting profession’s spheres of influence. The recently published 2009 list featured two Thomson Reuters executives–Tax & Accounting’s Professional Software & Services president, Jon Baron, and Tax & Accounting’s Professional Software & Services Core Market senior vice president, Teresa Mackintosh.

This is the sixth consecutive year Baron has been honored and the third for Mackintosh.

“It’s an honor to be included among such distinguished company,” Baron said. “Our mission remains steadfast to help public accountants take advantage of technology to increase productivity and profitability. The support we receive daily from our customers, combined with honors such as this, are very rewarding.”

Also published recently was the The CPA Technology Advisor’s annual “40 Under 40” list, which recognizes up-and-coming young accountants, tax professionals, and technologists serving the profession. Its honorees exemplify the innovative and technology-embracing mindset that accounting and tax practices need in their leadership in order to succeed. Mackintosh earned a spot on this list for her fourth consecutive year, and senior director of Enterprise Sales for Tax & Accounting’s Professional Software & Services, Adam Kupperman, won recognition as well, earning a spot on the “40 Under 40” list for a third consecutive year.

As the only honoree to make both lists, Mackintosh represents the younger generation well. “It is a privilege to represent the significant contributions Gen Xers are making, both in public accounting and the vendors that serve the profession. Evangelizing the adoption of technology in our traditional workplaces is energizing and adding to the success of accounting firms,” said Mackintosh.

Jon Baron joined Thomson Reuters in 1992. Prior to his promotion to president in July of 1998, Baron held the position of vice president of Development and was responsible for the design and development of all Tax & Accounting products for Professional Software & Services.

Baron has almost 35 years of technology development and management experience, all of it serving the accounting profession. He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from Siena College and a Master of Business Administration from Boston University.

Teresa Mackintosh, CPA.CITP joined Thomson Reuters in 1996. As senior vice president, CS Professional Suite®, for Tax & Accounting’s Professional Software & Services, she is responsible for revenue for the mid-market professional accounting segment as well as leadership of three key areas—sales, marketing, and product management.

Prior to her promotion to senior vice president in 2008, Mackintosh held the position of vice president of Strategic Marketing, where she led marketing and communications strategies for the Tax & Accounting business of Thomson Reuters. Mackintosh has also held many strategic positions in development and product strategy.

Mackintosh has more than a decade of experience in the professional tax and accounting industry, having worked as a tax consultant for Price Waterhouse, LLP before joining Thomson Reuters. She holds a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Michigan, and she is a CPA and CITP.

Adam Kupperman is senior director of Enterprise Sales for the Tax & Accounting business of Thomson Reuters and oversees Sales and Business Development for the Enterprise market. Kupperman has more than nine years of experience in accounting technologies with a specific expertise in document management and paperless office systems. He holds a Bachelor of Science from the University of Pennsylvania.
