The Tax & Accounting business of Thomson Reuters reports that ARNE, its recently revamped social networking community, is giving tax and accounting professionals more ways to share ideas, solve problems, and exchange information, making tax season easier. An evolution of the company’s Accountant’s Resource NEtwork (ARNE), the community has seen its popularity more than double since its re-launch in June of 2009 according to Bryan Hoeft, director of Marketing for the Tax & Accounting business of Thomson Reuters.
“Revamping ARNE was a major undertaking, and I’m really pleased to see our users responding to it so well,” Hoeft said. “A resource like ARNE is an important networking tool that helps many professionals during tax season. We’ve been able to make some additional improvements that have made it work even better during busy times.”
In addition to the long-popular discussion forums, the revamped ARNE creates a better platform to grow the capabilities of the system and offers a variety of tools for better, more meaningful interaction among Thomson Reuters CS Professional Suite and Enterprise Suite software users, including:
- Friending capability, avatars, the ability to create and join groups, and other social networking features that are fostering more productive relationships and collaboration.
- Exclusive content including blogs and other features that make it easier to stay informed.
- Integration with Thomson Reuters Solutions print publication that enables users to access back issues, as well as read and comment on the latest content online.
- Industry news that helps users keep up with networking events, seminars, conferences, and other happenings in the profession.
While the origins of this service date back more than twenty years, the new ARNE community showcases a fresh approach and a vastly expanded set of online capabilities.
“We’re absolutely committed to providing new tools that can help accountants interact and exchange information in new ways,” Hoeft said. “And I think that shows in many of the system’s new features.”
The new ARNE community represents the next chapter for a system whose origins predate the Internet itself. The original ARNE was a modem-based bulletin board, the first of its kind for accountants. It has changed over the years to maintain its leadership position in the industry, evolving first into a more modern message-based interface in the 1990s, and now into its current social networking format that is seamlessly integrated into the CS Professional Suite and Enterprise Suite website. At its core, the new ARNE community remains a trusted resource for accounting professionals to exchange ideas and discuss challenges such as tax law treatment, interpreting tax code, representing clients during IRS audits, collaborating on technology decisions, sharing software tips, and more.
ARNE is available to accounting professionals who use or have an interest in Thomson Reuters line of tax and accounting software and information services.
