10 Trends From The Boomer Technology Circles Summit & Talent Development Advantage
Dear Boomer Technology Circles Members, Talent Development Advantage Participants & Firm Leaders,
This year’s Boomer Technology Circles Summit was our largest and best ever. For the first time, talent development leaders joined firm decision makers, IT professionals and business partners in Kansas City. Rebecca Ryan (economist, researcher, author and speaker) and Rick Richardson (technology futurist) were the keynote speakers. Each Circle conducted breakout sessions as well as heard from our keynote speakers. Gary Boomer concluded the event with the Strategy and Vision session focusing on how firms are growing through advisory services. This letter will provide an executive overview of 10 trends identified during the Boomer Technology Circles Summit that firm leadership should consider.
- Remote Working
Work today is defined as what you do, not where you go. Along with a remote workforce comes expectations (HR), technology requirements (IT) and strategies (leadership) regarding current and future office requirements. In the pre-session, a panel discussed the importance of setting performance expectations in advance, providing comparable technology to what is available in the office, and space requirements (remote and in the office). It was noted that several firms are reducing office space requirements to under 200 square feet per employee due to the remote workforce and staff working outside of the office. The biggest resistors are partners who do not want the size of their offices reduced.
