BKD was presented with the 2017 Bridging the Gap IT/Firm Management Project of the Year award, which recognizes a firm project implemented within the last 12 months that leverages technology to accelerate the achievement of the firm’s vision and goals.
Recognizing the importance that innovation plays in the success and future readiness of a firm, BKD decided to formalize their innovation process and dedicate resources to it. The first step was creating a new "CIO" position - that of Chief Innovation Officer. They tapped Gary Farrar for the role. Gary's role as Chief Innovation Officer isn't necessarily to innovate but rather to create a culture of innovation and accelerate the process.
BKD is a certified public accounting and business advisory firm headquartered in Springfield, Missouri. The firm offers clients a variety of services in accounting, audit and assurance, tax, risk management, technology, corporate finance, forensic and valuation services and wealth management. Founded in 1923, they employ approximately 2,600 people over 35 offices in 16 states. “These awards are meant to showcase the individuals and firms that are leading the charge to link firm management, technology and talent,” said Sandra Wiley, President of Boomer Consulting, Inc. “To stay ahead of the curve and remain future-ready, you must have the right leaders and players in place. It’s an honor to be able to recognize some of the brightest and most influential people in accounting.”
