Overland Park, KS, July 7, 2021 – Boomer Consulting, Inc., the leading provider of unique consulting services, peer-led communities and thought leadership for the accounting profession, is pleased to announce the launch of the Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Consortium.
The DEI Consortium is an ongoing partnership with accounting firms and other individuals seeking diversity, equity, inclusion in the accounting profession. The group intends to create a safe space for open and honest conversations about truly making a difference in the profession and creating positive and lasting change.
The DEI Consortium's inaugural meeting was held virtually in June. During the meeting, members discussed where they are on the DEI journey, began identifying short and long-term goals for the group and developed a code of conduct and vision for the future.
"If the accounting profession wants to attract and retain diverse talent and compete in the 21st century, then we need to be better about fostering environments that promote inclusion," said Sandra Wiley, President of Boomer Consulting, Inc. "We believe that diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging are essential goals. It takes open and honest conversation that can be uncomfortable at times, but the benefits are worth it. That's why we're investing in change and working to bring together people who have spent their careers working on these issues."
The DEI Consortium is free to join and is still accepting new members. The next meeting is being scheduled for Fall of 2021.
